This day in tech history: The first city lights

31 Mar 1880. Wabash Indiana, a small town in Indiana named after the county it is in, would make history as the first city in the world to be electrically lit.  On this day, four carbon arc lights were fixed to the court house and powered with a steam powered generator.  It should be noted that not the entire city was lit up all at once, it was just the courthouse, but this still paved the way for modern lit up cities.
